Running was all he could do, run and keep running. He dared not to look back scared to see that they were still in pursued. Slowly the forest he saw was approaching. He knew when he would reach the forest that he would be safe for his pursuers. He side acked and his legs felt like lead. It was only a few steps further. For the first time he dared to look behind him. As rapidly as possible to reduce the risk to fall as much as possible. They followed him still. They probably thought he was bluffing, and he would not dare to run into the forest. That they had him trapped when he stopped at the edge of the woods.
When he had to leave the village quickly, he had two choices, except to hope that his pursuers would stop the chase. He could surrender or take his chances and flee to the woods. The only luck in the matter was that he‘d left the town quick enough to escape his pursuers had a chance to get to their horses.
He reached the woods and ran nimbly through the trees, he felt safer here. After running a couple of meters into the forest, he stopped to lean into a tree. He put his hands on his knees and tried to catch his breath, but when he looked through the trees, he saw that his pursuers had not given up. He ran deeper into the forest. Until he arrived in a little sheltered clearing. He leaned against a tree and let himself slide down slowly. There was no sign of his pursuers in sight. He tried to get some rest
